(More customer reviews)Provides even distribution of heat similar to lava rocks. Easier to spread evenly than lava rocks due to uniform size. However, most grease is burned upon contract with the grill bricks and does not pass though. Mild flair ups with cheaper burgers.
It also seems to decrease max heat output just a bit. Overall, a bit better than most lava rocks that i have used.
Update 9/19/2010 - after season of very heavy use, continued to performed as expected with the exception that some of the bricks have broken and fallen to the bottom of the grill. Not as durable as i would have expected.
